Antique African Mali Dogon bronze ointment pot. This piece is a genuine African (Mali) bronze pot of the Dogon people, circa the mid-20th century, possibly earlier. Incredibly tactile and highly collectable.

The Dogon ethnic group of Mali, West Africa, are known for their unique culture, complex traditional religion, and elaborate art. Richly adorned, the vessel’s body is supported by a turtle, while the lid is topped with a figure smoking a pipe. The surface is finely decorated with geometric motifs and reptiles. Such pots were used to store unguents, tobacco, or medicinal preparations, and could also serve as oracle vessels for marabouts.

If you have changed your mind and no longer wish to keep your item, please get in touch within the timeframe above so I can provide return instructions. Once the item has been safely received back in its original condition, store credit will be issued for the full value of the item, excluding the original shipping costs. Store credit can be used against any future purchase in my shop.

If an item is returned and arrives damaged due to insufficient packaging or transit damage, a deduction may be made from the total amount credited.
